Frequently Asked Questions
What qualifications do I need to run for Building Rep?
You must be a full-time SEA member and it is recommended that you are in good standing for your full-time teaching position.
Why do I have to physically be there to vote?
The SEA board feels it is important for the membership to attend one meeting a year in order to vote.
Can't I do an absentee ballot? Why don't we vote online?
These are fair questions, and all have been considered. In the end, the validity of the election is the top priority. Because of this, being there to physically vote is required. This also follows CEA and NEA voting procedures.
I am interested in contributing to the union, but I don't want to commit to a formal position.
Is there anything I can do?
Definitely! Please contact Mark Janick or Kevin Courchesne to inquire about other opportunities to work with the union.
Why is everything posted to the website? Why isn't all of the election information emailed like previous years?
The SEA has moved away from using school email to communicate to the membership. It is also very difficult to reach all members via personal email for a number of reasons. The SEA website is a one stop shop for all of your election needs.
